Sophora secundiflora, commonly known as the Texas Mountain Laurel, is a stunning evergreen shrub or small tree. It features glossy, dark green leaves and showy clusters of purple, wisteria-like flowers in spring. These flowers emit a distinctive, sweet grape-like fragrance, attracting bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. Following flowering, it produces hard, woody seed pods containing bright red seeds. While beautiful, the seeds are highly toxic and should be handled with care.
